It’s with great sadness that I share with you the passing of a long time contributor to Minnesota Motorcycle Monthly. Kevin Kocur left us way too early on August 13th. Kevin and I weren’t really close but I considered him a great friend. We attended a lot of motorcycle events and participated in a number of rallies together.

Kevin was one of those guys that was always up for pretty much anything. It was rare to see him without a smile on his face. He was always willing to help in any way he could. He loved all kinds of motorcycles and scooters and was a great ambassador for the sport. He also had a great love for dogs and was involved in a number of rescues and canine charities.

Kevin’s writing style was always honest and funny which is what we all want at MMM. His photography always worked and I think there are more goofy photos of Kevin than anyone else in the motorcycle community. He was really good at lightening the mood and adding humor. He will be missed by many but my memories of him will always put a smile on my face.

Ride on Kevin and keep having fun. Here are some of the pieces Kevin wrote for MMM. If you want more, and there is quite a bit, just search his name on the website.

  1. Damn it. I have missed getting to hang out with Kevin since the magazine died and we stopped doing similar events or reviewing bikes. That really sucks.

  2. I met Kevin when I started attending the ADV Rider meet and greets. Soon after, I purchased my DR 650 and he offered up a day of riding gravel near Red Wing. I excitedly took him up on it and he spent the afternoon patiently providing dirt riding tips, letting my lead the way and showing me the ADV salute.

I didn’t get the chance to ride with as much as I would have liked and that is regrettable. Always respected his love for riding and that awesome head of hair! Ride on mate!
